Vivo has announced its plans to expand its smartphone portfolio with the reveal of the latest X100 series. The smartphone maker took to the Chinese social media platform Weibo to announce its flagship lineup. The new lineup will succeed last year’s Vivo X90 series and includes 2 smartphones — the Vivo X100 and the Vivo X100 Pro models.
Vivo X100 series: Price and availability (China variant)
The vanilla Vivo X100’s base model starts at 3,999 yuan (nearly Rs 45,600) and the smartphone will be available in four other RAM and storage configurations. Meanwhile, the X100 Pro model will have three different variants and will start at 4,999 yuan (nearly Rs 57,000). Both smartphones are now available to order and will go on sale in China starting from November 21. The smartphones will be available in four colours — Star Trail Blue with a starry sky design, White Moonlight, Chen Ye Black and Sunset Orange with a leather finish and a water ripple texture.
Vivo X100 series: Key specs (China variant)
Both smartphones sport a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen that supports a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. The display uses the 8T LTPO technology and has 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The smartphones come powered by the Dimensity 9300 chipset which is backed by up to 16GB and up to 1TB storage.
For photography, The X100 houses a customised IMX920 VCS bionic main camera, 50MP ultra-wide and a 64MP Zeiss super telephoto periscope unit with a macro option. On the other hand, the X100 Pro has a customised IMX989 VCS bionic main camera, 50MP ultra-wide and a 50MP Zeiss super telephoto periscope camera with a macro option.
The Vivo X100 Pro will be the first phone to feature a telephoto lens certified by Zeiss APO. The smartphone will also feature Vivo’s self-developed imaging chip V3 that offers 4K-level processing, movie-level video skin tone protection, and Android’s first 4K portrait video shooting and editing.
The vanilla model packs a 5000mAh battery that supports a 120W flash charge that claims to charge up to 50% in 11 minutes. Meanwhile, the Pro model features a 5400mAh battery with 100W fast charging with up to 50% in 12.5 minutes. The Pro model also supports 50W wireless charging.
Both smartphones will run Origin OS 4.0 based on Android 14 and come with IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance.
