Nikkon has annonuced the new Nikkor lens — Nikkor Z DX 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR lens — in India. It’s the first NIKKOR Z lens with power zoom and linear drive, allowing for remote control operation and minimal operational sound disruption. The lens also has an internal zoom mechanism that maintains its center of gravity, making it stable even when used with a tripod grip or gimbal.
The Nikkor Z DX 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR lens will be available for purchase in the third week of May 2023, with a retail price of Rs 32,995.
You can customize your shooting experience by choosing preferred zoom options without touching the lens, using dedicated buttons on the camera body, the ML-L7 Remote Control with Bluetooth, Nikon‘s PC software, or a compatible smart devices app.
The zoom ring on the lens allows for tactile yet smooth power zooming, and you can adjust the zoom position based on the rotation angle. There are 11 steps of zoom speed settings for easy zooming in and out.
The lens also features Vibration Reduction (VR) technology, providing up to 4.5 stops of VR effect to capture sharp and clear stills and videos, even in low-light situations. When paired with the Z 30, Z fc, or Z 50 cameras and used in SPORT mode, the VR effect can be further enhanced for stable footage of fast-moving subjects.
With a focal length range of 12-28mm (equivalent to 18-42mm in 35mm format), the Nikkor Z DX 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR allows for various creative expressions, from ultrawide shots that emphasize perspective to portraits with bokeh. The lens captures more light thanks to the high flexibility of the Z system’s design, producing brighter stills and videos. Whether you’re capturing everyday moments, expressive selfies, or dynamic landscapes, this lens makes it easy to go wide.
Additionally, the NIKKOR Z DX 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR lens is equipped with a dust-and-drip resistant design, preventing dust and liquid from entering the lens and ensuring durability. The lens also features a convenient control ring that allows users to quickly adjust frequently used functions such as focus (M/A), ISO sensitivity, aperture, or exposure compensation, while keeping their subject in the frame. The zoom ring and control ring have a distinctive design, adding to the lens’ elegant appearance and enabling smooth operation.
