Uber, the ride-hailing app, has launched a new feature known as “Audio Seat-belt Reminder” to improve passenger safety while in transit. The new feature is part of Uber’s ongoing efforts to enhance its services and increase passenger safety.
The “Audio Seat-belt Reminder” feature will remind passengers to fasten their seat belts before starting every trip, regardless of whether they are sitting in the front or back seat of the car.
When a passenger enters the car, the driver’s phone will play an audio reminder, asking passengers to buckle up for safety. Passengers will also receive an in-app notification reminding them to wear seat belts. It is worth noting that Uber is testing the use of a human voice for the first time in India, along with the in-app notification. In other countries, Uber only uses a notification sound to remind passengers to wear seat belts for the “Audio Seat-belt Reminder” feature.
This new feature is part of Uber’s commitment to improving passenger safety by leveraging technology. The company has also recently introduced airport-friendly features to enhance the airport travel experience. The new feature will go a long way in preventing accidents and injuries resulting from passengers failing to wear their seat belts.
Currently, Uber’s “Audio Seat-belt Reminder” feature is only available to users in Hyderabad. However, the company intends to extend the “Audio Seat-belt Reminder” feature to other cities in the following months.
“We believe that our work on safety never stops. We are delighted to bring the Audio Seat-belt Reminder to Hyderabad. We believe that this new feature will be an effective way to encourage riders to wear their seat-belts, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on road safety in Hyderabad,” said Sooraj Nair, Head of Safety Operations, Uber India and South Asia.
