Google is expected to expand its Pixel 7 series with a new mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 7a. The tech giant is rumoured to launch the upcoming Pixel phone at its annual developer conference, the Google I/O 2023 event which is scheduled to be held on May 10.
Apart from this, the company is also expected to offer some key details about the Android 14 operating system and other devices as well. Google is also likely to tease the upcoming Pixel Fold along with the Pixel 7a smartphone. A tipster named Paras Guglani has shared a post on Twitter which has revealed certain details about the upcoming smartphone. However, Google hasn’t yet shared any official details about the Pixel 7a.
Pixel 7a: What to expect
As per the tweet, the Google Pixel 7a is likely to arrive in five different colour options. This includes — Dinuguan Black, Crispy Kale, Mayo Cream, Tide Orange and Vibrant Ube. The upcoming smartphone is also rumoured to pack 256GB of storage. To compare, last year’s Pixel 6a shipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
According to a report by ET, the Pixel 7a is expected to be priced at around Rs 40,000.
The Pixel 7a is expected to sport a 6.1-inch OLED display that may support Capacitive Touchscreen and Multi-touch.
The report also mentions that the smartphone may pack 8GB RAM. The upcoming mid-range Pixel phone is also likely to have a symmetrical display with a punch hole in the centre. This punch hole may house an 8MP front snapper for selfies and video calls.
Apart from this, the smartphone is rumoured to feature the Google Tensor G2 chip which also powers the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones. For optics, the Pixel 7a may house a dual rear camera setup which is likely to include a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary sensor and a 12MP secondary unit.
No other details about the smartphone are available yet. More details are expected to surface before the Google I/O 2023 event.
