Career and other key details about the man advising Elon Musk on changes at Twitter

Former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal may be replaced by another person of Indian-origin. After taking over the microblogging platform and immediately firing its top brass including CEO Parag Agrawal, billionaire Elon Musk has roped in Sriram Krishnan, the general partner at 16z crypto ‘temporarily’ to help with Twitter‘s rejig. Sriram Krishnan, general partner at the top VC firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has revealed that he is helping Musk through initial changes at Twitter.

“Now that the word is out: I’m helping out @elonmusk with Twitter temporarily with some other great people,” Krishnan said in a tweet. “I (and a16z) believe this is a hugely important company and can have a great impact on the world and Elon is the person to make it happen,” he added.

Hails from Chennai
Sriram grew up in India, in Chennai i in a ‘lower middle class family’. His father worked in insurance and mother was a homemaker. He met his wife Aarti on Yahoo messenger in 2002. And they have been together for over 20 years. He moved to Seattle in the United States with Microsoft in 2005 when he was just 21.

Krishnan has previously worked at Twitter
Krishnan led core consumer product teams at Twitter from 2017 till 2019. He drove Twitter user growth to more than 20 per cent (YoY) growth in two years and launched several products, including a redesigned events experience. He was responsible for products including the home timeline, new user experience, search, discovery, and audience growth.

Made 20-plus investments
He has made 23 investments so far. Their latest investment was Seed Round – Lasso Labs on Oct 4, 2022, when Lasso Labs raised $4.2 million. Others include Notion, Cameo, Coda, Scale.ai, SpaceX (Musk’s space company), CRED and Khatabook.

Started his career at Microsoft
Sriram started his career at Microsoft where he worked on numerous projects related to Windows Azure. He is the author of “Programming Windows Azure” published by O’Reilly. Krishnan has also created and oversaw various mobile ad products for both Snap and Facebook, including Snap’s Direct Response ads business and the Facebook Audience Network, one of the largest networks in display advertising. He has also led the product and engineering teams at Meta and Microsoft.

What LinkedIn says
On his LinkedIn profile, he says that “I’m a builder, engineer, Youtuber and venture capitalist. I invest in crypto/web3 as a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz. I previously had leadership roles running product and engineering at Twitter, Meta and Snap”.
